Hello everyone I'm going to write my blog on Movie review of Pride and Prejudice directed by Joe Wright (2005) ; task given by Megha ma'am Trivedi.

# INTRODUCTION:-

Jane Austen's classic novel, Pride and Prejudice, has been adapted for the screen numerous times over the years, but none have captured the spirit of the novel quite like the 2005 film directed by Joe Wright. With its exquisite cinematography, witty dialogue, and superb performances, Wright's Pride and Prejudice is a cinematic masterpiece that has stood the test of time.

The film follows the story of Elizabeth Bennet (Keira Knightley), a spirited and intelligent young woman from a middle-class family in early 19th century England. When two wealthy bachelors, Mr. Bingley (Simon Woods) and Mr. Darcy (Matthew Macfadyen), arrive in the neighborhood, Elizabeth and her sisters are thrown into a frenzy of excitement.

Mr. Bingley is immediately smitten with Elizabeth's eldest sister, Jane (Rosamund Pike), but Mr. Darcy, on the other hand, is initially put off by Elizabeth's lack of fortune and social status. However, as Elizabeth gets to know Mr. Darcy better, she begins to see beyond his pride and prejudice and to appreciate his many good qualities.

Over the course of the film, Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy must overcome their own pride and prejudice in order to find true love. Along the way, they must also deal with the interference of their families and friends, as well as the social conventions of their time.

# CHARACTERS:-

Keira Knightley is perfectly cast as Elizabeth Bennet. She captures the character's intelligence, wit, and independent spirit with ease. Matthew Macfadyen is also excellent as Mr. Darcy. He brings out the character's complexity and depth, while also maintaining his air of mystery and intrigue.

The supporting cast is also excellent. Brenda Blethyn is hilarious as Mrs. Bennet, the overzealous mother who is determined to see her daughters married off well. Donald Sutherland is charming as Mr. Bennet, the more rational of the two parents. And Judi Dench is perfectly cast as Lady Catherine de Bourgh, Mr. Darcy's haughty aunt.

# THEMATIC INFORMATION:-

Pride and Prejudice is a film that explores many different themes, including love, class, marriage, and social status. However, the central theme of the film is the importance of overcoming one's pride and prejudice in order to find true love.

Elizabeth Bennet is a proud and independent woman who is not easily impressed. She is quick to judge others, and she often lets her pride get the better of her. Mr. Darcy is also proud and arrogant, and he is initially dismissive of Elizabeth because of her social status.

However, as Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy get to know each other better, they begin to see beyond their pride and prejudice and to appreciate each other's true worth. They learn that it is important to look beyond appearances and to judge people on their individual merits.

# CINEMATOGRAPHY:-

The cinematography in Pride and Prejudice is simply stunning. Director Joe Wright and cinematographer Roman Osin use a variety of techniques to create a visually stunning film.

One of the most notable aspects of the cinematography is the use of natural light. Wright and Osin often shoot outdoors, and they use the natural light to create a soft and romantic atmosphere. They also use a variety of camera angles and movements to create a sense of dynamism and excitement.

Another notable aspect of the cinematography is the use of color. Wright and Osin use a variety of colors to create different moods and emotions. For example, they use warm colors, such as red and gold, to create a sense of warmth and love. They also use cool colors, such as blue and green, to create a sense of mystery and intrigue.

# Why is Pride and Prejudice (2005) still worth watching today?

Pride and Prejudice is a timeless film that is still relevant today. It explores themes such as love, class, marriage, and social status that are still important to people today. The film is also beautifully made and features excellent performances from the cast.

In addition, Pride and Prejudice is a film that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. It is a romantic comedy with a strong female lead, but it also explores deeper themes that can be appreciated by adults.

If you are looking for a well-made and entertaining film to watch, I highly recommend Pride and Prejudice. It is a film that you can watch over and over again and still find new things to appreciate.
