Summary of "NAAGMANDALA" :-

Nagamandala is a play written by one of the famous Indian English playwrights Girish Karnad in 1990. It was originally written in the Kannada language but later translated into English.
The story of the play is about Rani who is the central character of the story. She was married to a man named Appana. Appana always locked Rani inside the room and he spends most of his time outside with a concubine ( Prostitute). He comes home only once in a day at lunch time. Appana does not love her wife(Rani) even though he has no interest to talk with her. Whenever Rani tries to talk with Appana, he shuts her up by saying he has no interest in her talks. And Rani always become sad and be alone whole day at Appana's house. Whenever Appana would go out from the house he locked the door and keep the key with him.
After some days one old blind lady Kurudava who feel the pain of Rani. And after some time Kurudava came to Rani and she used to talk with Rani everyday. Once Kurudava gave to Rani the Three magical roots which are help her to make her marriage life better. Rani used two magical roots but she can't succeed. After some days she tried the 3rd magical root and it is mixed in Curry by Rani. And than the Curry became Red and Rani was became scared and she thought that she would have to pour this red Curry out of the house. She pour that red magical Curry in Anthill. In which a "Naaga" [Cobra] live in the Anthill. The Curry is eaten by that Cobra and he fall in love with Rani. And he always used to meet Rani to Appana's house. The Cobra is a Willful serpent🐍 and he took a Form of Appana and live with Rani. After some time Rani is pregnant from Naaga(cobra). And Appana came to know about her pregnancy and he brutally behaves with Rani. And he asked her by whom she became pregnant. Rani said that the baby in womb is his and Appana refuse her all talks and he neglected her and he is pull Rani to the PANCHAYAT of village. And he brutally insults Rani. All the panchayat elders decided to take a exam of Rani's character. After that Rani passed the exam with the help of Naaga(Cobra).
And after that Naaga(cobra) wrapped around the throat and all the villagers and Panchayat members thought that Rani is a  form of goddess and all that people do worship of Rani and give her so much respect.

= THIS STORY HAS 2 ENDINGS....,

>>>   The narrator considers the first ending of the story, in which Appanna begins to love Rani while forgetting his concubine, to be loose.
>>>    The second ending is offered by the story’s narrator,Naga sacrifices himself for Rani’s love after Rani realises she had slept with both Appanna and Naga. He dies by hiding in Rani’s hair.
[ when Rani comb her hairs at that time she couldn't comb her hairs properly and the Nagga who was hide in Rani's hairs he fall down on the floor.]

= ACCORDING TO ME THE THIRD ENDING CAN BE LIKE THIS,

>>>   The third ending is like that... After arise all these questions on her character and Appana blames her at that time Rani become very furious and she tells Appana's reality to all the villagers and Rani gives him divorce and they both are become seperate. And after that Rani become an independent woman of the society and she is shift to the City with her child and join a good job and live with her child very happily.
